Intimate Wedding Experiences

Outdoor-centered weddings for couples who want to gather their closest people without recreating the pressure of a traditional wedding.

An intimate wedding might include an outdoor ceremony, a relaxed dinner, a few meaningful traditions, and private time together woven into the day.

This is not a traditional wedding shrunk into a smaller guest count.

This is an intimate experience designed from the beginning — one where your people are cared for, the setting feels meaningful, and the day still feels like you.

You can include the people you love without turning your wedding into a production.

We help design intimate weddings that feel personal, nature-connected, and fully supported...

with thoughtful guidance for the ceremony, guest flow, logistics, and quiet moments that still feel like you.

  • You want to include family or close friends, but still keep the day intimate.

  • You’re drawn to outdoor ceremony spaces, Airbnbs, small venues, private estates, or boutique, specialty lodging.

  • You want some structure — ceremony chairs, reception space, decor, catering — without a rigid traditional wedding feel.

  • You want private couple time built into the day, not swallowed by guest logistics.

  • You need help designing a guest-inclusive experience that still feels personal, peaceful, and grounded in nature.

This might be the right fit for you if:

Before we talk locations & venues, we help you clarify what kind of experience you actually want & for your guests — peaceful, adventurous, private, sacred, playful, or somewhere in between.

Vision & Experience design

Small weddings involve more moving pieces than adventure elopements: ceremony chairs, rentals, catering, decor, timelines, transportation, lodging, and vendor coordination. We help shape those pieces so they support the day instead of overwhelming it.

Logistics & vendor coordination

Even with guests, we keep the experience about celebrating you. We help protect space for private vows, portraits, adventure, or quiet moments together before or after guest time.

Private couple time

We design the day so your guests feel included and cared for without taking over the experience.

Guest experience flow

We help think through the ceremony and reception spaces, lighting, guest comfort, access, flow, and how the setting supports the emotional tone of the day.

How We Guide You

You don’t need to solve everything before you come to us.

We guide you through location & venue fit, ceremony flow, guest experience,  timeline, and logistics — starting with how you want the day to feel.

You can include traditions, family moments, dinner, toasts, or dancing — but only in ways that serve the experience you actually want.

Meaningful, supported structure

We draw from a vetted list of venues, Airbnbs, private estates, and specialty lodging we’ve researched for intimate outdoor weddings — then help narrow the options based on your guest count, event needs, and the atmosphere you want to create.

Real Intimate Wedding Stories

Intimate weddings can take shape in different kinds of places.

Brittany & Cale

Smoky Mountains Intimate Wedding & Waterfall Adventure

Sarah & Harrison

Sunrise Adventure & Intimate Wedding in the NC mountains

These stories show how family, tradition, and thoughtful logistics can be woven into a wedding that still feels personal, nature-centered, and fully your own.

  • An Airbnb or private estate where everyone can gather close.
  • A boutique, small venue with enough structure to support your guests.

Brittany and Cale’s Smoky Mountains wedding blended outdoor adventure with a more structured guest-inclusive celebration: an outdoor ceremony at an Airbnb, meaningful family time, and a catered brunch reception.

Later, we shifted into a multi-waterfall adventure and a picnic by the river — creating a day that held both guest connection and outdoor exploration.

Sarah and Harrison’s Little Switzerland wedding blended a private sunrise adventure near Linville Gorge with an intimate family celebration at The Switzerland Inn.

Their day included quiet mountain time, an outdoor ceremony with guests, a relaxed patio reception, and intentional pauses that kept the experience personal, peaceful, and fully their own.

Their story shows how a small venue wedding can still carry the feeling of an elopement.

Kasey & Thomas — Blue Ridge Mountains Intimate Wedding

StoryBright created the most perfect, personalized wedding day for us. From dreaming it up to bringing it fully to life, we felt supported every step of the way.

They introduced us to incredible locations that felt exactly like what we had been hoping for—even before we could put it into words.

Everything felt so natural—we barely noticed we were being photographed, and it was captured beautifully.

They felt like family, and it truly seemed like they have a God-given gift for creating experiences like this.

We felt completely at peace and didn’t know a day like this was even possible until we experienced it ourselves.

Intimate Wedding FAQs

Is this still an elopement?
Maybe, maybe not — and that’s okay. With 20–40 guests, the experience often starts to function more like an intimate wedding. The important thing is not the label. It is whether the day is designed with intention.

Can we still have private vows?
Yes. We recommend building in private time even when guests are present. That may mean private vows, portraits, a first look, or a separate adventure experience before or after the guest-centered part of the day.

Do we need a venue?
Usually, yes — or at least a property that can responsibly support your guest count and event needs. For intimate weddings, the right small venue, Airbnb, private estate, or specialty lodging property matters a lot. We have a vetted list of properties & help guide you toward the ones that can support the experience you want to create.

Can we include traditional elements?
Yes. The goal is not to reject tradition automatically. It is to keep the pieces that matter and let go of what does not.

How many guests is this best for?
These experiences are typically best for gatherings of around 20–40 guests. If your guest count is larger or the event has more complex logistics, we’ll talk through whether additional support or a different scope is needed.

Do you plan larger traditional weddings?
Not in the traditional full-scale wedding planner sense. We’re strongest when couples want to create structure in unique, outdoor-centered places that don’t already come with a built-in wedding template — Airbnbs, private properties, specialty lodging, small venues, and meaningful natural settings.

If you’re planning a larger barn, ballroom, or conventional venue wedding with a full traditional reception structure, you’ll likely need a dedicated planner or coordination team. But if your vision is smaller, more personal, guest-aware, rooted in nature, and needs someone to help bring the pieces together, that’s exactly the kind of experience we love shaping.

You don’t need to have the perfect venue, location, or full vision figured out before reaching out.
