Thinking about a Looking Glass Falls Wedding? This beautiful (and convenient to access) waterfall is a very popular place, but even in the busy season it’s possible to have all to your own. Check out our Wedding Anniversary shoot with Andrea & Jarred to see what we were able to do on a busy summer Saturday!
Looking Glass Falls Wedding Anniversary
Andrea & Jarred – Part 3
In our first post for Andrea & Jarred we wrote how the rain chased us away from Black Balsam Knob for our Wedding Anniversary session. Next we moved to our first backup location – Roy Taylor Forest Overlook. Then when thunderstorms moved us away from our Parkway spot, we drove off of the mountain to Looking Glass Falls. Little did we know this would be our best spot of the day!
Looking Glass Falls – a Natural Waterfall Wedding Venue in NC
As we wrote previously in our post Dill Falls NC Elopement – there are certain criteria we look for in a waterfall spot for our couples. While NC has plenty of waterfalls worthy of a day-hike, not all are setup well for a couples shoot. In fact, many are just the opposite.
One of our key elements is a shallow, wide pool at the base of the falls for freedom of movement. We also don’t want you to get too wet – after all, mountain water is cold! There also must be enough water flow. Rainfall has trended more dynamic in the Blue Ridge Mountains since we moved to the area, and it can be tricky to judge waterfall volume.
Thankfully, Looking Glass Falls has all the feels when it comes to the perfect spot for an engagement, wedding or anniversary shoot. Andrea & Jarred – true to form – certainly agreed!
Even after the rainstorms, the water was just over ankle deep. Plenty of freedom for not only a little dancing…
…but the perfect moment to share a kiss as well.
One of our favorite prompts for couples is to say “put on your serious face.” Truthfully, it’s not so much about getting that perfect photograph of you in a somber moment…
… but instead to capture what’s next. Always next. Cracking up and sharing a big laugh!
The Perfect Ending to a Blue Ridge Parkway Wedding Anniversary
Listening to the rain fall in the grove of trees at Black Balsam Knob. Watching the clouds moving in and out of the valley from a Blue Ridge Parkway overlook. Then topping it all off with cool feet and warm smiles at Looking Glass Falls. Kona did so well in every spot and took to the exploring very well!
Lead me where you want to go…
… just one more time before we leave.
We just loved capturing their glow through the mist of this epic waterfall spot!
Don’t miss part 1 where we made the best out of the rain showers at Black Balsam Knob. Or part 2 where we moved to a beautiful backup spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
