A Romantic Greenville Cycling date
Jackie & Kyle’s Wedding Anniversary Adventure – Part 1
It’s quite humbling to look back and realize this is our third shoot with Jackie & Kyle. The year of their wedding, we met up with them first to shoot a cute engagement proposal video. Months later we were at their side again to film their emotional Windy Hill Event Barn wedding (in the midst of a hurricane!). A year later – to complete the “trilogy” – we caught up with them to highlight not only their cycling passion, but how their love for each other has only grown stronger in the time since. Thankfully, perfect weather this time around!
As enthusiasts of the sport ourselves, cycling is our #1 go-to for romantic things to do in Greenville, SC. Naturally, we jumped at the chance to bring this part of their story out in film. Their shared love for cycling brought them together for their first date, and it’s clear how it continues to grow their relationship stronger!
Did we mention we’re espresso aficionados as well? Coffee and cycling are the perfect match – and the perfect way to start a day of adventure together.
You’ll catch us mentioning this again for sure, but we are so drawn to their style. The teal and orange of their back porch are perfect complements, while Jackie’s bike selection for this ride (a Giant Revolt) brings out this signature color even more. Just wait until you see them all dressed up for sunset photos!
Jackie popping a little wheelie as they roll out from their home – let’s ride through the countryside together!
Sally Gilreath Road – a picturesque, must-see spot to cycle Greenville, SC
When we planned out their adventure day together, both Jackie & Kyle wanted to make Sally Gilreath Rd part of the experience. Just northeast of Traveler’s Rest, SC – this road combines many classic elements of a Greenville SC road bike ride.
All smiles on a warm & sunny fall day!
If you’re looking for the best places to cycle Greenville SC, we have plenty of roads that fit these criteria:
- Little to no traffic
- Low speed limits
- Through farmland & countryside
- Mountain views
We’d say this is a little slice of heaven!
We almost forgot – cows. Need plenty of cows to complete the idyllic view. Chocolate, vanilla cows and everything in between…
Because cows always bring the romantic vibe, right?
Skyuka Mountain – One of the Best Cycling Climbs in NC
Did we mention these two are quite the fit cyclists? As in – super fit? Not only did they want to incorporate roads around Greenville, SC for their adventure session – but Skyuka Mountain was on the list as well. It is Jackie’s favorite after all – and with it being one of the best cycling climbs in NC – we couldn’t resist the opportunity to document their ride to the top.
Fall sun gives us so many ways to play with the light. Peeking through the trees with a foreground of cool shade on a warm day, we caught a little lens flare shining down as they sped by!
Skyuka Mountain Rd isn’t exactly the land of waterfalls, but in one or two spots you catch a trickle leading to streams beside the road. There is something quite soothing about the sound of water as you ride by. Likewise, we saw only one or two cars on the way up. Perfect for a couple’s ride!
These two made short work of this climb. If you’re interested in the numbers, this is roughly 4 miles of nearly 9% grade (average!) – gaining 1,813 ft in total.
The top is a semi-secret overlook with a perfect rock outcropping for a couples session. The entire mountain (on the Columbus, NC side) is private property, but this small pull off is state owned property. If you come to visit, please be respectful of the private property adjacent to this spot.
If you’d like to know exactly where this is – we’d love to show you! For all the popular overlook spots between Asheville and Greenville, this is a gem. Very convenient to Greenville, SC and generally a quiet spot of solitude. Not to mention you’re looking over a completely natural valley – no development to be seen. While it’s a bit of a drive from town, it is our favorite spot for romantic things to do near Greenville, SC. Especially if you’re a cycling enthusiast!
With their favorite cycling roads in the books & sunset approaching, we found a spot for our couple to change into more formal attire and we returned for photography during golden hour. Check out our next post where we celebrate a Blue Ridge mountain wedding anniversary with style!
