When choosing from Blue Ridge mountain wedding venues for an elopement or small, intimate wedding – we think Skyuka Mountain is one of the best kept secrets near Greenville, SC!
Romantic Greenville, SC Wedding Anniversary Adventure
Jackie & Kyle’s Wedding Anniversary Adventure – Part 2
While not a traditional (and pricey) Blue Ridge mountain wedding venue, Skyuka Mountain is a great option for a small intimate wedding or elopement. There are multiple, classy (and sizable) Airbnb rentals at the top of the mountain which would be perfect for a family reception. We think the overlook rivals the many popular spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Less people, more solitude & the convenience of beautiful mountain top houses for rent nearby for a small family reception – a worthy option. Not to mention the location itself is completely free to use!
The first half of our day with Jackie & Kyle captured their shared love for the sport of cycling. After reaching the top of Skyuka Mountain, we transitioned into full-on wedding anniversary shoot.
Magical Forest Wedding Vibe
Just a short distance away from the overlook, we found a small clearing in the woods just off the road. We felt that the mountain laurel was a fitting backdrop for these two! With so many of their distance cycling routes journeying to the top of Blue Ridge Mountains, it was a fitting environment.
These two have such a casual vibe – and at the same time they bring a stylish touch of elegance to a scene. Jackie still had her wedding bouquet from a year ago – love the colors! Notice Kyle’s pink patterned tie?
Our posing style is to stay authentic to your natural sense as a couple. Instead of rigid poses we prompt you a bit and “see what happens.” One example – “one of you go in for the kiss – the other try and avoid it!” Eventually, someone “loses” – and such a fun result!
Adventure shoot tip – full length flowing dresses are magical. Enjoy all the twirling you want!
Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding Venues – Skyuka Mountain
Isn’t walking down a quiet, country road romantic? Even better when it’s at the top of a mountain!
This view is why Jackie & Kyle love riding to the top of this mountain – and the perfect spot for anniversary photography as well! While there are many worthy overlooks between Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC – not many have a clear, natural view. With so much development taking over the Carolinas, there aren’t many places left for an experience like this.
“I’m so happy to be here – with you – right now.”
We had mentioned earlier that Jackie & Kyle’s wedding day didn’t exactly go according to plan because of a hurricane blowing through the area. They took it all in stride though – and adapted their outdoor wedding plans to move indoors. After that experience, it was such a blessing to bring them on a day like this without a single raindrop.
Time to twirl …
… and twirl…
… and twirl some more!
The lighting is so dynamic during golden hour in the mountains. About halfway through to sunset the sky lit up all around – and everyone was ready for it!
Sharing a few words with each other about the day … which of course we captured in their highlights video (see below)!
Ever find that special place, with your soulmate – and never want to leave?
The kiss that that lit up the sky up above…
Every special moment deserves a champagne toast. Or – a bottle of Stella Artois. Seemed fitting enough, since they had it at their wedding a year ago!
Our hearts are still full over this shoot with this beautiful couple. Weather that (finally) cooperated. Sunset lighting up the sky. Their style and elegance together. And of course – seeing their love grow even stronger as time goes by. To our friends Jackie & Kyle – thanks again for bringing us into your lives, and we wish you many years of adventure together ahead!
Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding Anniversary – Highlights Film
Just as we captured their full day together in still photography, we shot video along the way as well. Our style of videography is storytelling, narrative & cinematic, and it’s the perfect complement to photo galleries of their day together. Check out their film below!
