The “Why” Behind Their Decision to Elope

Jamie and Ross’s decision to elope centered on staying true to themselves.

They didn’t want a day spent rushing from moment to moment, worrying about how others were feeling. They didn’t want to get swept up in the logistics and miss the joy of their own wedding.

Neither did they want to spend the months prior to their day worrying about … anything.

Choosing an intimate elopement gave them the space to focus fully on each other — to move through their day with intention, presence, and peace. By working with us, they chose to set aside all the planning worry and let us handle the details!

Designing Their Elopement Experience

Jamie and Ross came to us with a clear focus for their day but needed help bringing it to life.

With our guidance, they chose a stunning home from our curated list of elopement-friendly Airbnbs — a modern mountain property perched at the edge of a cliff, overlooking a roaring waterfall through massive panoramic windows.

The home, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, wasn’t just a beautiful setting — it became the heart of their private Airbnb waterfall elopement: peaceful, creative, and deeply connected to nature.

With the help of our amazing partners — Cristina from @wild.willow.co and Genevieve from @blushroseflowers — we designed a ceremony space that echoed the landscape around them. Boho rugs layered the forest floor, lush wildflower arrangements framed the view, and intentionally chosen decor like candles and lanterns completed the setting among the mossy rocks.

It felt less like setting up a ceremony — and more like revealing something that had always been waiting for them. This is the experience we wanted for them — to walk up to their ceremony spot and have it immediately feel like theirs.

Act I: First Look and Vows by the Waterfall

The day began slowly & with ease, with a quiet getting ready in the cabin, sunlight streaming through the trees. Each was feeling a bit nervous before their first look and ceremony, and we were grateful to bring them calm during this time as they looked forward to seeing each other. In contrast to big weddings where the rush and chaos tend to exacerbate your anxiety, we love to create a pre-ceremony time that is relaxing for you.

Their first look was full of emotion — Ross could barely hold back tears as he saw Jamie for the first time, and again later, as he pulled out the rings during their ceremony.

In a quiet, grounding moment, Jamie gently reached out and touched his arm — a small gesture that spoke volumes about the depth of their bond.

Their ceremony, framed by the waterfall and wildflowers, was tender and authentic. No elaborate production — just the two of them promising a lifetime to each other, in a space that felt sacred and true.

Act II: Picnic & Lakeside Adventure

After their ceremony, Jamie and Ross shared a beautiful charcuterie picnic at their ceremony spot, soaking in the moment and enjoying a few laughs together. They told us later how much it meant to them to have a “pause” in the day, just for them — and not just have to rush from one activity to the next. Act III: Champagne and Campfire Celebration

To end the evening, we returned to the cabin for a cozy campfire celebration. Something they told us very early on in the planning process, is they wanted their gallery to reflect their total experience, with the cabin being the start and finish. This is how we framed up their day — started their for getting ready, and finishing next to the campfire as the last light of the day disappeared.
